Flood alert for The lower River Chelmer, including the River Ter and brooks around Sandon


This message has been issued because some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas is likely today, Saturday 10th February 2024.

River levels are beginning to drop, but will remain responsive to further rainfall. Areas most at risk are low lying roads, brooks and riverside areas between Cock Clarks and Sandon, and Terling to Langford.

The forecast is for further rainfall is expected overnight. Catchments are already saturated and it is likely that rivers will respond.

Take care on riverside footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

Flood alert area: The River Chelmer from the A138 at Chelmsford to Langford, the River Ter from A120 at Stebbing Green to Boreham, and the brooks around Sandon.
